Our History
Our history began in the early 1970s as a result of the experience gained in the funeral sector by our founder Oscar Puato, who had owned and managed a number of funeral chambers since the late 1950s.
The knowledge acquired in the funeral business immediately highlighted the hygienic and sanitary difficulties related to the preservation of bodies, due to the particular climatic conditions, especially in the hot season.
Considering that these situations in hospital morgues were dealt with and resolved by the use of cold chambers, it was from these experiences that it was decided to create a transportable refrigerated system, applicable to all types of coffin.
In this way, operators could have their own portable "cold chamber", inspired by those used in hospital morgues, to be placed on top of the coffin.
Thanks to a transparent thermal cover, the body of the deceased could be seen by the relatives.
This was the birth of the "Ibernsalm" and consequently of the CEABIS company.
In the course of time, the Ibernsalm equipment was supplemented with various models and technologies in the field of refrigeration.
Today we can say that we have all types of solutions adapted to the specific needs of operators and for every destination.
Acquiring experience in the field of refrigeration, and given the success of the Ibernsalm portable refrigeration units, at the end of the 70's CEABIS implemented its own production.
The company designed cold chambers for morgues, available in various solutions, also with customised designs, anatomical and autopsy tables, lifting trolleys and trolleys for transporting bodies, equipment and articles for morgues and cemeteries.
Today CEABIS is one of the most important and consolidated brands on the world market in its specific sector.
Since then, in over thirty years, knowledge and specialisation in sanitary refrigeration for the preservation of bodies have led to the production of all the equipment and furnishings indispensable to operators in the sector.
In particular, we design and set up morgues, whether for public bodies or private funeral homes, with modern, state-of-the-art equipment that complies with current hygiene and accident prevention regulations.
In 2003 we became part of the
Vezzani Group through an acquisition.
Since then, with the support of the group, we have increasingly developed the view of offering a comprehensive range of products, which continues to expand and improve.
The aim is to fulfil customer demands, but also to enter new markets.
